Privacy policy

Takit is an Android app for e-hailing drivers, made by Taj Consultancy (tajconsultancy.co.za). This policy explains what information Takit uses and what we do with it, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What the app reads on your phone
To work, Takit uses Android's Accessibility service to read the ride requests shown by Uber, Bolt and InDrive: the fare, distances, times, addresses and rider rating. On InDrive it may also read the trip distance from the map on screen. All of this is worked out on your phone only. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.
What stays on your phone
- Your car and cost settings, and your list of areas to avoid.
- Your shift summaries (counted trips, fares and estimated costs).
- A device code and your subscription details.
Deleting Takit removes all of this from your phone.
What the app sends
A few times a day, Takit checks our public downloads page for a newer version. This check sends nothing about you or your trips.
When you contact us or pay
If you message us on WhatsApp or pay for a subscription, we keep your name, WhatsApp number, device code, plan and payment record. We use them only to activate your subscription and to help you. We don't sell or share them, and we keep them only as long as needed for our records. You can ask us to see, correct or delete them at any time.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
